The Golden Nightingale - Ricostruzione di una mostra - Thu 10 May 2018 - Fri 29 June 2018

Five young artists who would soon become some of the protagonists of Analytic Painting - Enzo Cacciola, Paolo Cotani, Marco Gastini, Carmengloria Morales, Gianfranco Zappettini - were invited to participate to testify Bucarelli’s ability to read her time and anticipate the new tendency in painting and contemporary art.

The exhibition

in the gallery from 11 May until June 29, 2018 with twenty historic works from the 70’s and more recent works that show the analytic path of the five artists and proposes to reconstruct the significance of that particular historical choice that we consider an illuminated precedent in the extraordinary story of Analytic Painting.

This forgotten episode, with documentation held in the Rome GNAM archives, was carefully studied and evaluated at the Progettoarte - Elm Gallery and by the curator Angela Madesani: Bucarelli’s formal invitation to the artists, the papers between the Cyprus and Italian institutions, the shipping of artwork documents, helped reconstruct the story and brings a vivacious atmosphere to the Milan Gallery.

With recognition of these names, the director and superintendent of the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome at the time, caught an important moment in XX century art which analyzed the building components of painting and the material rapport between work and artist.

The show is accompanied with a bi-lingual catalogue (Italian and English) where in addition to the text by Angela Madesani and photographs by Bruno Bani, we find all the sources recuperated from the historic archives of the GNAM concerning this particular episode.
