GIUSEPPE UNCINI - La Misura del Costruire Thu 07 October 2010 - Thu 11 November 2010

With an exhibition of cements armed cycle "architecture" and a series of drawings, back on show in Milan the work of Giuseppe Uncini. The Master of Fabriano, which since the sixties, along with Castellani, Lo Savio, Manzoni and a few others, has given a radical Italian and European art, an art coining definable only through its semiotic quality, had appeared the last time in Lombardy with three simultaneous exhibitions at the Marconi Foundation, the Stein Gallery in Milan and the Galleria Fumagalli of Bergamo.
On that occasion the artist was offered a paradigm articulated his work up, in fact, to the cycle of "architecture". The sculpture of Uncini, in reality, it's all 'built' for the simple reason that he has conferred measures and ways that evoke or even highlight the processes of construction. Uncini said: "My sculptures are also architectures and these aspects have a primary weight in the creative process"; and also "in the cycle of the" architecture "of the overlapping layers of concrete walls enriches and characterizes the constructive aspect sculptural work. I overlay in order to increase the volume, weight and finally the space itself. "
With the exposure of some "architectures", a "relief", an "area of ​​iron" and a series of drawings made since the fifties, the new exhibition of Uncini in Milan - after the recent ones of Rome and Bergamo - puts also highlight the importance of design in his work. The exhibition, curated by Bruno Cora, marks a further contribution to the better understanding of the art of this great protagonist of the twentieth and twenty-first century.
